Gamechanger 20 Ltd (ORG / Bright Path Sports Partners): football clubs acquired
Football clubs Gamechanger 20 Ltd (ORG / Bright Path Sports Partners) has acquired or invested in, per transactions covered by our database: Ipswich Town FC (90%, 2021).
UK newco formed to acquire Ipswich Town. ~90% owned by ORG Portfolio Management, a US investment manager that channels capital from Arizona public-sector pension funds (widely reported as the Arizona State Pension fund; later reporting ties ORG to PSPRS, the Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System). The remaining ~10% of Gamechanger 20 was split between a 'Three Lions' group of individuals — Brett Johnson, Berke Bakay and Mark Detmer, co-owners of USL side Phoenix Rising FC — and outgoing owner Marcus Evans, who retained a 5% stake in the buyer vehicle. Ed Schwartz is also associated with the ownership group per club/media reporting. In March 2024, Bright Path Sports Partners invested up to £105m for a reported 40% stake, diluting ORG to ~50% and Evans' residual holding to ~1%; Evans later sold his remaining shares entirely in 2025.
